My first client ever was my own dog, Chelsey. She is a lab/husky/shepherd mix of what I was told when I first got her. My sister and I got her at the Cuyahoga Animal Shelter when she was about three years old. From the first day we got her she was very shy around us and with other people she met. She is still shy around people today which is due to a rough life she had before I brought her home. But she is a very sweet dog who is a window watcher. She is also very spoiled too, as she has a painted portrait of her by my mom friend’s husband. I started taking photos of her first on my point and shoot. At first she was shy around the camera, probably since she never had seen one before. I wanted to take photos of her to keep so I could document her life with me. Another reason I wanted photos was because my old dog, Lucy, our family dog didn’t have to many photos of her and I wanted make sure I had plenty of Chelsey. In February 2013 I bought my first DSLR camera. I wanted to test it out and my dog was perfect for it. My camera had so many options compared to the point and shoot that tried out a lot of the effects on Chelsey. She since was use to the camera by then she didn’t care. So long as I got her attention with food or a toy she she would give me her best smile. That is when I started getting more creative. I would have her wear glasses, hats, bananas, pose with a toy and much more. She would give me many expressions. That is how I started taking photos of other people’s pets. I loved getting down to their level and snapping a photos of them. Below are some of the photos of Chelsey.
